    Holbrook Singleton was one of nine children. He was born in Mayport, Florida on March 25, 1896 and known to everyone as Holly Singleton. He was known to be a very stubborn hard-headed man who wanted everything to be done his way. He refused help with anything he attempted to do. He owned two shrimp boats, the Belem and the Three Sisters. Holly shrimped the waters off Mayport and along the east coast of Florida. for many years. He died October 3, 1982 and is buried in the Tillitson family cemetery on Girvin Rd. in Jacksonville, Florida.
