2. Conquering and controlling Amerinds. Didn't do things to sustain Indian population. There was a 90% reduction in Indian population by 1650.
3. Creation of institutions that would provide:
a. an orderly life in America--done wall
b. permit effective metropolitan control over colony--pretty effective
4. In places, there were large Amerind populations. Had to change their behavior to got
things done in the European way.
