[Küküllővár] KÜKÜLLŐVÁR The renaissance castle of Küküllővár (Cetatea-de-Balta, Rumania today) was built between 1613-1625 by István Bethlen, younger brother of Gábor Bethlen, the Hungarian governor of Transylvania. The castle replaced an older fortress which had been built in the Middle Age.
Until the end of World War II, the Haller family was the lord of the castle, but since they too left Küküllővár.
